Moving Forward From Failure

This week’s key word is failure and how it relates to schools, families, and to our society. Failure plays a huge role in people’s lives because it affects us everyday.  If a person fails, they can either learn to improve or keep on failing. Therefore, failure can have a positive impact sometimes because then a person can learn from their mistakes, improve, and succeed. Teenagers tend to make many mistakes in school or sports because they are young and still learning.

Failure can lead to success in many ways.  For example, failure can make people think about what they did and what went wrong and how to develop and move forward for the next time. Failure can be seen as a step back in life but actually can lead to progress.  For example, if I do not receive an A on an assignment in school, I should create a goal to work harder and put more time and effort into my homework.   Winston Churchill said, “Never, never, never give up.”  I can relate that quote to my life in many ways, including sports.  For example, when I swam on the Wethersfield High School Lady Eagles Swimming and Diving Team, I never gave up and I would practice until I succeeded at all of the different strokes.

J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter book series said “What I feared most for myself at your age was not poverty, but failure.” Quote received from the following link: (http://harvardmagazine.com/2008/06/the-fringe-benefits-failure-the-importance-imagination)
J. K. Rowling wrote wonderful stories and she succeeded very much because even m0vies were created based on her books.  She was afraid to fail, but she did not fail and she is very successful now.  Her story proves that it takes courage and independence and a belief in oneself to succeed.  She decided to write her stories, even though she knew she could fail. When she succeeded, she proved to herself and anyone who doubted her that she could succeed and her stories would be very popular with readers of all ages.
