Reach for the stars and succeed
My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor is an engaging autobiography and clearly demonstrates by working hard anyone can accomplish their goals. This book is uplifting in many ways because she challenged herself, served others, and excelled under difficult circumstances. From an early age, Sotomayor was determined to reach her goals and become a lawyer. Sonia Sotomayor explains the story of her childhood in the Bronx, New York until she becomes a federal district court judge. I picked this memoir because I want my dreams to come true and so did Sonia. She is a role model for everyone who has a dream to succeed and she shows the reader that if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything.
This was the Common Read for the Class of 2017 because it was an inspiring and true story. First-year college students can learn from Sotomayor’s experience and apply her determination to succeed to their lives. As a freshman at Southern Connecticut State University, it is very important to continue to strive for earning good grades, making social connections, and participating in various campus activities. Sonia Sotomayor is a role model for all because she reached for her goals and was able to accomplish great achievements.
Sonia Sotomayor is visiting Southern Connecticut State University on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts. This is very exciting because a lot of people are looking forward to listening to her story because her book was an engaging and inspiring story. Southern Connecticut State University provided the tickets to first-year students and were sent to the Inquiry classrooms. In addition, the general public can also access the tickets as well if they would like to see the program offered by Sonia Sotomayor.
I am very excited to for Sonia Sotomayor’s lecture at Southern Connecticut State University because after reading her book, I feel as if I can connect to her in many ways. I have big dreams and goals that I would like to reach in my life and she did just that by striving for success.
