                                  Questions for the Practice Quiz

This week’s topic was about creativity and how creativity stimulates the brain stay busy and avoid boredom.  Listed below are Inquiry creative thinking questions:

1.    What are ways we can cultivate more creativity?  How can this be important for the future?

Answer:

Sometimes creativity happens accidently whether at school, work, or home.  Students in school should be rewarded for creative thinking because they need to learn to be more open-minded and have flexible ideas.  21st Century learners need to be aware of advancements in technology which is ever-changing.  For example, many people need to be aware of how to use a computer as well as other technology in the workplace.  This also includes children in school systems because they must complete more assignments online through PowerPoints, iMovie, SmartBoard, Google Drive, and many more.

Today’s society can cultivate more creativity by ensuring people that are moving forward and not staying in the same place or becoming stagnant.  Teachers in schools can provide measurable challenges to determine creativity levels of their students and also determine what can be improved.  Students can exercise these through group activity to maximize innovation.  When working in a group, it is important to think flexibly and work well with others.  It is great to be able to bounce ideas off of one another and add to each other’s ideas.  Group work also allows students to learn from one another.  Working with others is an important skill which usually follows through to a career because as a co-worker, it is vital to work well and constructively with others.  It is also important to have good communication skills to convey creative thoughts and ideas to one another.

Also, a person may need to be alone to collect ones thoughts independently.  For example, when a person is working alone and focused, they may be able to brainstorm ideas.  By learning the skills of creativity at an early age in school and from parents, children will have skills for the future.  We may not know what the future holds but we will be prepared for what is to come because we are able to think creatively and flexibly.

2.    How can having free time and space impact creativity in a positive way?

3.    Compare and contrast the benefits of hiring a hard worker or a creative thinker.  Choose to hire one of the above and explain why you made this decision.

4.    How can parents and teachers inspire creativity in children?

I chose to answer the first question because I thought it was a very college level based question which requires supporting evidence for the answer.  The evidence listed in the above question are examples from the readings from this week.  If students begin to think creatively, the world would change for the better.
