Initiative;

Using Google, I searched the word “initiative” and the definition was, “the ability to assess and initiate things independently.”  I also searched using the “Free Online Dictionary” (Link: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/initiative) and I found the following as the definition:
1. The power or ability to begin or to follow through energetically with a plan or task; enterprise and determination.
2. A beginning or introductory step; an opening move
take the initiative.

In college and throughout life, it is important for a person to take initiative to be successful.  To initiate something means to begin or start something new.  All of the freshmen this year at Southern Connecticut State University have taken the initiative to begin college, learn, and make new friends.  Relating back to my Blog 2B, I discussed meeting new people and being successful in school this year.  I took the initiative to meet others as well as complete my homework in a timely manner.  I plan to continue to take the initiative to be a cooperative classmate, student, and friend to others.
