Sporting Event – First Football Game

On Saturday, September 7,  2013, Southern had their first football game.  The opponent was Indiana University of Pennsylvania at Jess Dow field at Southern Connecticut State University. The game was at 1:00 p.m. and as you can see, many people went to support our team!

       Everyone was cheering and had signs and flags for our team that said “Go Owls.”  There was lots of students who attended the game and lots of school spirit.  The school gave away free T-shirts and food was sold during the game. It was a beautiful day to be outside for the first football game.

       The other team was called the Crimson Hawks and began the game with a touchdown within the first 15 minutes of the game.  But by the second quarter, we tied and scored a touchdown too!  By halftime, the score was tied 14 to 14.  The third quarter, we began to lose the game as the Hawks got ahead by another touchdown and finally won the game 30 to 20.  Everyone was upset that we lost but it was a nice way to spend the day and we hope to win next time!
